CLUB
HOLLERTRONIX
#6: DIPLO, SCOTTIE B, KING TUT, SAYWUT, DJ TAMEIL ~ Hollertronix
#6 (Money Studies) : 12" : Baltimore Club : $22 ESSENTIAL!
Just in case you were wondering each and every Hollertronix 12 is proven
gold. Steered by Diplo, this record series has continued to define the
Hollertronix sound that just won't settle down (no joke, if you want evidence
that there is a Hollertronix sound check the devoted society over at the
Hollerboard: www.low-bee.com/forum). Last 12" it was JA dancehall,
this time we're blessed with total Bmore. The gagging-for track on here
is actually courtesy of Baltimore Club veterans, Scotty B and King Tutt:
The Almighty Unruly Simon Joint is a cranking chop-up of Paul Simon's
quietly riffing 'You Can Call Me Al'. Destroying too many dancefloors
for Paul Simon's good, this track alone sells Holler#6 right out. But
these nip and tuck (or flip and f*ck) refixes of recongnisable standards
continue...Diplo brings a crazy update of Yaz with 'Don't Go Snitchin'
and a Professor Longhair underpinning of Lil Scrappy's Money in the Bank
('The Scrappy Chief'), Say Wut blasts an electro-cult 'Bueller Theme'
and DJ TAMEIL of the Brick City Boyz, stabs some nicely restrained kick
and break into Kraftwerk ('Trans-Newark Express').

DJ ROCTAKON ~ Money Lotion #1 (Money Studies) : 12" : Baltimore
Club : $22 RESTOCK!
Roctakon is all about party rocking pride. He was one of the OG Turntable
Lab reviewers but is now quite simply a full-time man of the NYC night
life. Roctakon's offering for Money Studies new DJ-tool 12"
series, is without a doubt the year's most conceptually tight and wildly
populist Baltimore release. He's brings a more refined Bmore-ification
as they hyping relick to some amazingly selected 80's hit vocal material,
Corey Hart, Outfield, The Cars... you know it all (but "it's just
what I needed"!). Straight fire anywhere. 5 tracks in all. Completely
recommended.

A-TRAK & THE RUB ~ Sunglasses Is A Must Blends EP (Smelly Fatso/Money
Studies) : 12" : Party Blends : $22 ESSENTIAL!
Top of the line dancefloor blends. Kanye's shaded tour DJ and virtuosic
turntablist youngin, A-Trak, joined The Rub DJs from New York for a US
tour and let this 12" slip at its conclusion. Each and every blend
here sounds el naturale, party proven, and rides that expert pop-boffin
balance that bumps both mainstream superclub and indie warehouse crowds.

DJ TAJ ~ Bamabounce EP (T&A/Money Studies) : 12" : Baltimore
Club : $22 ESSENTIAL!
First of all...Open a new web browser window and type in DJ Taj or Wu
Tang Slide into YouTube. Check this fella. Whilst Baltimore breaks from
outside of Maryland is no longer an anomaly, DJ Taj is definitely doing
something heavy down in Alabama. His instructional soundtrack to his very
own dance, the Wu Tang Slide, has got to be the Bamabounce signature banger.
Taj's sound is refreshingly rooted in the original Bmore formulas: tough-as
breaks, crude-as vocal snippets (about being hung low, getting 'her' to
go grocery shopping etc) and an infectiously raw-as result. By all accounts,
DJ Taj - being a black, gay producer based in the Dirty South - has steamrolled
his own scene where (DJ Roctakon reckons) 'people get open to his shit'.
And with this 12", his first to be widely distributed, will only
serve to break the bamabounce further open. Keep a watch. Oh, and the
other track not to be missed is the crucial bust-up of Cassie's RnB hit,
'Me & You'. For more on this fellow check out www.bamabounce.com!

DJ AYRES & TITTSWORTH ~ Ayres'N'Titties (Money Studies) : Mix
CD : Baltimore Club : $22
Chasing a Bmore fix for the car, a 101 intro to the old and new classics,
a present for your younger sister who only listens to NRG, a get hype
at home CD?...we'd leave it to Ayres'n'Titties. That's DJ Ayres and Tittsworth,
stars of the new outta Baltimore generation, and their pro mix CD is not
to be sneezed at. Contains over 60 records played in an hour mix. Totally
recommended.

LEXIE LEE ft STICKY / PALEFACE ~ Suited & Booted Remixes Vol.2
(Suited & Booted) : 12" : UKG/Dancehall : $28
Lexie Lee is a Miami/Jamaica connected female dancehall DJ who's killing
it right now. But to get any of her music (apart from on her Myspace and
website) is a major challenge. So this 12" is a double coup, as its
the UK's legendary Sticky boosting Lexie Lee's 'Warlord's Daughter' track
with some UKG bounce and majorly warbling sublow basslines. You know Sticky
from his big tunes with Ms Dynamite ('Boo') and Lady Stush ('Dollar Sign')
so this is the next legacy. Real upbeat garage mix on the flip from Paleface
also. So yep, very limited copies instock (with that hm hm UK import price
:).
